My name is Shua, and I'm 25 years old.

Umm so yeah, Detroit is back on the map....and I hate to be one of those kids who all of a sudden likes detroit...BUT.....I think it could be justified with my 1985 Detroit Tigers shirt I've been wearing for almost a decade now. Then again I've only been to Detroit about 10 times. So yes I will be excited for the Tigers, because you know what, we're the underdog, and we deserve some credit every once and a while.

On the other hand, I am also very impressed by The Pixies. Currently about to mix you's a cd with two very great songs by them on it. "Monkey Gone to Heaven" and "Hey". It's the kind of music that makes literally "dancing out of the shower" appropriate.

Some other bands I really want to get back into: Sonic Youth and R.E.M. I already picked up a bunch of R.E.M. records but there's always a list of bands I forget to look at when I'm trying to download music. Joy Division's album, "Still" also sounds worthwhile on cdnow.com. Also Warsaw, is the band that would eventually become Joy Division should be interesting if I can find it. Haven't heard much of this though. Recorded in 1977.

I have this feeling that all these old bands from the early 90's and 80's are slowly gonna come back strong.....replacing much of the nonsense jargon that is currently infecting the airwaves.

Avant Gard mixed with the Indie Hipster Retard Ways is what I predict for the next two years.

Why do I say this? Because music has become more about "how you create it". People have begun using their minds to combine the odds and ends, technology with really old school instruments, but mainly, instruments. Anything goes regarding a musical instrument.....beating on the wall with your fists could now compose a background track with the shuffling of your feet as the main beat.

I must say though that there are some INCREDIBLE bands out there (Mr. Krug, Devotchka, Beirut....I'm mainly looking at you guys right now) I have a feeling this indie hipster music will eventually wind down a little. Not fade out, but transform into a more sophisticated identity. Avant Gard my friend. People will start questioning why we make music, and why all of us are so easily attracted to it, and from that, it will become something even greater.

I could be all wrong....and probably am....but I'm excited for what's next.

I'm listening to Shua.
