"It was Sunday, the only day my father closed his store and the vision of himself passed out in his chair with the Sunday paper lying uselessly on his stomach was obviously dancing in his hea das he tried to unlockl the fasion mysteries of the North Pole workforce."
why did I laugh out loud after this passage.....It reminds me of "A Christmas Story"...which I think the season is calling for right now.......in the beginning of October.
"My father always bought our tree at the local YMCA but that was as far as Chirstmas decorating went in our house. The same red spray-painted foam balls with macaroni glued to them that I had made in preschool adorned our trees until I left for college. My mother has no patience for decorating, so one rather moth-eaten-looking Santa doll shw had won in a Kiwani-Queens bingo game because the sole representative of holiday cheer in our house."
man.........I have a feeling this book will keep me company this weekend while it snows....and Gia will be wondering (if not scared) why I'm laughing out loud for no reason every so often.
